Tooth Extraction
Removing a tooth with comfort and care, using local anaesthetic or sedation.

When a tooth needs to come out
An extraction may be needed because of severe decay, gum disease, crowding or trauma. Many people feel nervous about extractions, but modern techniques mean they can be done comfortably.
We'll first explain why the extraction is needed and your alternatives. Local anaesthetic numbs the area, and sedation is available to help you relax.
What to expect
During: specialised instruments gently loosen the tooth. You may feel pressure, but you shouldn't feel pain — tell us if you do and we'll adjust the anaesthetic.
Aftercare: we give you written instructions to help healing and reduce the risk of infection. Some swelling, discomfort and bleeding is normal and is usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief and cold compresses.
If you've lost a tooth, ask us about replacing it with a dental implant — sometimes on the same day.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
